i spend 4 days a week working in devonport dockyard and 1 day a week at college studying a HNC in naval architecture.
Yes, I have completed a faburcation and welding course in my first year and have learned valuable skills such as managing a team and organizing work to accive deadlines
Everyday i could be working on something different and i wake up in the morning looking forward to going to work and learning more about the industy
Very organised with a training plan over the 4 year apprentiship, if i have a problem it is usally resolved by the end of the day
Lots, my managers are always keen for a chat and to find out how we are getting on and any ways they could improve.
I recieved a lot in my first year but since covid started and i have started my HNC it has became a bit unorganized with some of my colleagues being logged out of there accounts and still waiting for there accounts to be unlocked by the training provider
I feel the training from my training provider gave me a good baseline of understanding but i learned the majority of my knowlage through working in the dockyard as this is applying my knowlage and learning on the job.
Yes, theres lots of different accivities which are open to get involved with, some of these are department based and some are across the whole company
Yes
It's an excelent career to get involved in and i already have a couple of friends trying to join for this years intake
Get some work experience in the dockyard if possible as this will help when it comes to the interview stage
