I am in a marketing role working on Nestle's Dairy brands as an Assistant Brand Manager. On a day to day basis, I manage the marketing budget, design packaging with agencies and work on future innovation for the brands.
Due to the nature of the scheme I was on, I have learnt skills across four different functions: HR, sales, marketing and supply chain so I have a holistic view of how a business works and how each function and department work together and the different processes.
I really enjoyed the degree apprenticeship scheme I was on and would recommend this route to anyone who is unsure on what they want to do after they leave school. As not only have I completed by business degree but I am also Chartered Manager qualified and I have 3 years of experience within a business.
My programme was well organised with clear structure of how many university weeks there would be throughout the year and when deadlines would be so I could balance my time with my day-to-day job. Clear transparency from both the Nestle Academy and Sheffield Hallam University.
There was a lot of support available throughout scheme and after. The Nestle academy were always available to speak to when needed and supported when changing roles on scheme, queries on salary, university etc. All line managers on scheme have been incredibly supportive making sure I get the right balance between uni and work so I'm not stressed out.
There was a lot of support from Sheffield Hallam during university block weeks with around only 20 people in the classroom so a lot of 1:2:1 time with tutor. Tutors were also happy to help via email/phone after uni weeks due to long distance learning.
Doing my degree alongside working has really helped as I have been able to apply my learning from the classroom back into the real world of business and see it in real life rather than just from an academic point of view.
At Nestle there are a lot of networking events where you can meet and talk to others from different divisions/brands. There is also a gym on site and you can take part in classes with the nuffield gym team as well as a bring you dog to work scheme.
Yes
Nestle is a great company to work for. There is so more room to grow personally and professionally and build great relationships. There is also so many opportunities to learn and broaden your skill set through the different divisions and functions.
Just be yourself! :)
