I worked as a teaching assistant during my apprenticeship. I work alongside the teacher, helping her with the daily duties of; printing homework/ worksheets, making display boards, marking books/ spelling tests ect. I also helped make Victorian costumes for the boys and girls for our history lessons as well as for our assembly.
During my apprenticeship, I am proud to say I have learnt many new skills which I know will help me in the future. The biggest skill I have learnt is being a professional in the setting. Due to myself meeting with external professionals such as Sen specialist, child psychologist , OP I have definitely gained so much confidence in myself.
I absolutely love my role as a teaching assistant, I have received the full support from my work place as well as from my training provider. I have made many mew contacts and will definitely be in touch with them even after finishing my apprenticeship. This apprenticeship really did give me a very powerful insight of what it’s like to be a qualified teaching assistant.
My apprenticeship is very structured, during the start of the apprenticeship, I had a induction and was introduced to my tutor. She then gave me an overview of what my apprenticeship consists of. Also sent me some useful links to websites and as well as a leaner book which I could buy to help myself with the assignments.
I have reviewed full support from my employer from the day I started. They allowed me to be in different year groups as well as work with SEN a children to maximise my experience as a teaching assistant apprentice. They allowed me time off to complete my assignments and my line manger always asked for feedback on how I was doing.
My Tutor Sophie is extremely kind, professional and made me so comfortable during my apprenticeship. I am really happy I got her. She gave me the full support I needed to complete my assignments as well as be a good role within the school. She’s also in contact with me and replies straight away if I have an queries.
My tutor has also been very motivating towards me also made sure if I did had any problems or needed extra help , I always reviewed the help even if it was from my workplace. She encouraged me to utilise myself in the work place and was always in contact with my work setting.
There are many activities offered at my work place such as sports teams, year group quizzes, Christmas dinner and parties where we all can join and celebrate together as one big team. There would alway been snacks provided in the staff room. However due to COVID 19, this has been stopped this year until further notice.

Let Me Play has not only given me a level 3 diploma but also great memories and achievements that I will always cherish throughout my life. I have received all the support I needed to develop as a professional as well as completing my level 3. I high recommend them!!
I would definitely give the tip of being organised with assignments and if you don’t understand something then definitely speak up and don’t leave it to last minute. It can be tough if your not up to date with the assignments. Always attend your remote sessions and ask questions away to make sure you know what you are doing.
