As a fabricator apprentice I do lots of small jobs on and off the ships in the dockyard. These jobs can vary from welding and thermal cutting to fitting and shaping.
During the apprenticeship I have learnt lots of new skills that I did not have before and developed all of my existing applicable skills.
I enjoy my apprenticeship programme very much and I have very little to complain about.
The programme is very well organised as I have never had a ny issues with miscommunication or lack of information. I have also never had a problem with two things overlapping.
As an apprentice I receive support wherever it is needed on the programme. For example they offer financial support and mental health support.
Support towards our qualifications is very good as my employer provides us with all the necessary resources we need to learn.
I feel that my qualification helps me perform much better because I have learnt a lot while doing it. However there are times when we are doing training and we are not really learning much because we are repeating things.
Lots of people that work in the dockyard organise events and things to do outside of work.
Yes
Because I have had no serious issues in any way with my employer and I enjoy the programme very much.
Any one applying for babcock shoukd make sure that they research the company and the things related to their trade of interest. Mathematics is a big part of engineering at babcock, so being competent is quite important.
