My role involves mainly checking people into the hotel aswell as out , money handling with counting the till and people paying with cash or with card, keeping everything clean and tidy ready for guests coming in also monetering CCTV and doing floor walks to make sure everything is quiet, checking emails and dealing with any questions guest's may have either face to face or over the phone
There has been many new skills I have learnt such as how to deal with complaints, being able to stay calm under pressure aswell as answering guest queries and handling money with the knowledge I have gained over my time here, I have also learnt alot more with what goes into the catering and hospitality industry and look forward to developing my skills even further
Since I am on the programme when it has been phone calls I have found learner portal to be a bit finicky as I was only able to be told how to use it over the phone but in terms of the assessments I found them to be perfect for what I needed and the layout and programms explaining the topics was detailed and explained alot about the subject I was about to do and helped me understand alot more about my role
The structure and pacing of the programme gives plenty time to make sure everything is complete and well spaced out to not cause any panic also since you can choose the order of what topics you would like to cover first this means for any you are not sure on you can read up on them more until you feel as if you have got better understanding of the topic the structure of mylife made finding things very easy and accessible, leaner portal as mentioned prior was a bit harder to grasp as it had to be explained over the phone but after uploading one it became alot easier
There was a check list sheet that had to be ticked off and instead of just ticking things off I was questioned about everything and what I did not know was explained and was not ticked off until I was able to answer any questions about that certain topic this pushed me to looking into through previous program's and going over topics again to help gain more knowledge and a better understanding
My training provider was [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] and he was very helpful as any upcoming topics were told to me well in advance to make sure I was able to prepare for the voice recordings properly also anything I may of needed help on such as mylife when I phoned he further explained how to use it and upload stuff also he made sure than any appointments I was not able to make were rescheduled to work around my hours
It helps me to perform better in my role as many of the topics in the programme were very detailed and explained alot about the catering and hospitality Industry which without the apprenticeship I may of never thought of looking into or came across overall it has helped me to further develop existing skills and learn a few new skills which will make me more effective in my Industry
There is currently a team effort walk going on where we have to the distance of the Premier Inn to great ormond Street hospital in combined KM walked but because of the year not alot has been able to happen but there has still been Halloween, Christmas and Easter events
Yes
The reason I would recommend this role is because everyday you are meeting new people and socialising with either guests or colleagues and the role never gets stale as everyday different things are going on and every achievement is a team effort and no one feels left out or less important whilst making everyone put In an equal effort into guests feeling welcomed and looking forward to any future stays
The main advice I would give is to be yourself and be confident in any querys or questions you may get and if you are not sure don't be afraid to ask questions of your own to help further develop your own understanding of the role so any future questions can be dealt with more effectiently and quickly
