I'm an IT technician for an Academy trust supporting 30+ school both primary and secondary with Google for Education related queries
Both, I was already quite familiar with Google and Windows from supporting the general public and personal use but it was interesting to see how those products change when they used in a professional environment.
I've been keen to join the IT industry for a long time but wasn't sure where to start. Doing an apprenticeship gave me the skills I needed to do this as well as earning a salary at the same time.
Initially I had no idea how the year would play out but a couple of months into my apprenticeship I was a assign a new tutor who explained everything clearly and helped me map out the route ahead with estimate completion dates for each module
the vast majority of learning was through employer lead training or self study. All my managers always took the time to teach me new things. Were it not for covid i feel they would absolutely have supported me more.
Apart from brief explanation of binary and assistance with time management. I didn't receive much education from LMP and would have very much like to have seen some virtual lectures.
my education was a vital part of helping me get a foothold in the business IT support
There would have been if not for COVID. Nothing was arranged during my apprenticeship for this reason.
Yes
while it was more "hands off" that I was expecting I absolutely cannot fault the quality of the placement.
Always ask questions about what your colleagues are working on. Get a copy of CompTIA A+ Certification all in one guide. This is largely over kill for a Level 3 qualification but is very valuable to self study. Keep very detailed notes on your studies to refer back to when revising.
