  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt new communication, drafting and writing skills through the set ICA paper assignments and through drafting remediating existing policies in my day to day job. I have also attended internal beginners training for Tableau and am able to produce tables and graphs for analysis and reporting. I recently also completed an external Data Protection training course to help understand the legislation around UK GDPR and the terminology. This has all hugely aided my skill set and how I am able to deliver key objectives.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am lucky to work in an organisation that highly regards well-being. This attitude filters through my team and with this support, has made it easier to achieve and complete my apprenticeship. The course was challenging and encouraged me to research the history of compliance in the industry and within my place of work. This was thoroughly enjoyable to read about.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I had a very supportive tutor from CSA that would help guide me through the course programme. I also have two amazing managers that are extremely knowledgeable and would help with inductions, training and help review assignments whilst I was studying. My team and division is very well structured with clear task delegation and regular meetings.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been very supportive since the start of my apprenticeship in March 2018. During the course of the last two years, all my managers have encouraged me to make best use of my study time and be disciplined in doing so. I have been able to reach out and speak with different colleagues for guidance or advice without worrying what my peers may think.

  • My tutor was very friendly, helpful and always made time for reviewing content I sent over. During our monthly catch ups I was always provided with regular feedback on assignments and how I could improve the quality of my work. This was essential to my progression and completion of the qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification I have achieved has given me the opportunity to apply for internal roles with my workplace and successfully be offered a new job with promotion. I am now able to put the theory into practice and feel by completing this qualification it has given me the foundation to build upon my new career.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many networking opportunities such as Women in the Bank, BAME and the Parent's network. There are also various volunteering opportunities throughout the year that take place in or around the City of London. When I am not working I try to take part in the many online gym classes that have recently been on offer to all employees for home workouts!

  • 9a. Would you recommend Bank of England to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Since joining the organisation almost three years ago, I have had such a positive experience. I have been able to work in several different business areas and the support and encouragement I have received from managers has never differed no matter how senior they have been. The working atmosphere and culture has been great.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bank of England?
  • Visit the Bank of England's career website for regular updates and advertised opportunities for new jobs and any internships or graduate schemes. For the interview process I would suggest using the STAR template to help answer competency based questions. I would recommend the Bank as an employer as the opportunities and experience are still endless even once employed.
