  • The role varies on a day to day basis but there are opportunities to learn in everything task/project. Daily activities may include coaching others, looking at standards and learning the manufacturing processes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • There are opportunities to learn in the everyday role as well as being sent on specialist training courses with topics including food safety and training others. This is additional to the academic learning at university, studying professional business management.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The job is really enjoyable, which different challenges each day. The apprenticeship is full on with the need to balance workload with university studies, but it is a really valuable experience and I've learnt so much!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There have been areas of the apprenticeship that could have been better organised, such as the structure of the apprenticeship across the three years. The induction to the business was great with opportunities to meet the other apprentices and there are plenty of people around for support.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The management team on site have provided great support throughout the process and HR are there to answer any questions. The apprenticeship itself is new to some managers however they are there to support you and ensure you succeed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There are quarterly check ins with a university coach and module leaders are there to answer any questions via email.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The link between the qualification and the day to day role varies between each module. As this is a joint course between the commercial and operational apprentices some modules are more relevant to specific areas, however they are all aimed at improving overall awareness of how the business operates.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not that I'm aware of, however these may have been impacted by COVID-19.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I have developed so much as a person and learnt a lot of new skills, especially growing in confidence over the three years.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestle?
  • Be aware of the workload associated with apprenticeships, particularly the balance between work and study.
