In my role, I have the opportunity to work alongside our internal and external customers to provide excellent service. My every day tasks include entering delivery tickets into our Project Accounting system, raising purchase orders and resolving invoice queries from our suppliers. I also help to support all departments with any admin tasks which includes updating spreadsheets, uploading monthly payroll and sending out letters.
In my apprenticeship, I have learnt many skills that are useful in carrying out every day tasks. I have had a lot of support in learning how to use our online systems - my colleagues are always extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I have also had the opportunity to do a First Aid course and a Fire Marshall course.
I am really enjoying my programme so far. I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people and I have already learnt so much about this industry. I enjoy my every day tasks and the challenges that come with it, I feel that I have already learnt and experienced so much.
At first, my programme was a bit slow to start and I had little to no communication from my college, but on the positive side, this gave me time to settle into my role and learn new skills. Now that my course has actually started, my tutors have been very helpful in delivering sessions and giving feedback and I am confident in the structure of my apprenticeship.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. My manager has really helped me to settle into the team and has supported me with any questions I have had about my job role, the industry and potential future opportunities. My employer is always communicating with me and this has filled me with confidence about my job.
At first, I didn't receive any information from my training provider, but now that my course has begun, I know that I can approach my tutors if I have any queries about my course or the assignments. For the most part, studying is very independent and I only have a lesson with my tutors once every 2 months, however, I enjoy being responsible for my own learning.
My qualification gives me the knowledge to help me further understand my every day tasks and also the rules and regulations that run within the company that we don't usually get taught within the workplace. I feel that my qualification helps to support me in my role at work.
There are not many extra curricular activities at work, especially given COVID restrictions, but we are hoping to have more activities after restrictions ease. However, our team is very connected and we have opportunities to get to know each other in the workplace. Furthermore, we have training opportunities such as First Aid courses which we can add to our competencies.

I would recommend Kier Group to a friend as it is a very welcoming and friendly environment. Everybody here is happy to help and has a lot of knowledge about the industry. There are many opportunities for you to grow your current skills whilst learning new skills and I always feel really valued here.
Research into the company and the potential opportunities it can give you! There are so many chances for people to progress within the industry after their programme, and Kier are always looking for people who are keen and excited about learning and progressing. Just be yourself and show how interested you are!
