I Work on design projects, this evolves me using AutoCAD to design drawings for highways as well as producing skethcs and standard details. I also complete all the paper work for a project this includes health and safety documents, environmental documents and i also book the road space for the project
in my opinion i believe that i have learnt many new skills whilst working at kier, such as developing my team working skills and getting better at using software such as auto CAD. Also whilst studing my degree alongside working i have learnt many new design methods and calculations that are used for the design of highways
i have enjoyed my programme quite alot, this is because it has aloud me to earn and work at the same time instead of the classic uni experience where you are purely studding everyday. this has made it far more enjoyable for me as i dont get bored doing the same thing everyday
since starting my uni degree course the structure of the course has been great in my opinion. I have been given opportunities to move into different roles within the company and have also gained experience of civil engineering as a whole at uni by doing topics such as structural analysis and surveying
My manager is amazing with offering support to me be it with work or uni work, he has made it clear that if i ever get stuck on anything it is fully acceptable to just ask the question and not sit there struggling. all my other colleagues are the same as this to

My qualification will allow me to progress within the company to a higher role with more responsibility's, this gives me the opportunity to further my career. also the stuff im learning at uni does apply to my role as i have study topics such as transportation which shows me how to carry out the calcs for highways design
there isnt many extra curricular activities available at my work, however we do do activity's outside of work socially to help improve team building and blow of steam. some examples of stuff we have done is go to go karting, this gives everyone something to look forward to at work
Yes
overall kier has been great for me as it has allowed me to start studying my degree in civil engineering free of cost whilst im earning money. Also the working environment is great and i get on well with all my fellow colleagues which i think is very important as it keeps you happy at work
i would say that it is important to be professional but also be happy to have a joke everyone and again as that helps you solidify your self within the team and office. Id also say make sure you study hard for you couse as this is realistically the most important thing
