Testing and commissioning ships and submarine systems through the refit stage
Learnt new skills in running pressurised systems, nuclear powered systems and general engineering skills.
I enjoy the programme a lot, it is nicely varied in terms of skill base and provides a great exposure to many different areas
The programme is well structured to gain all the necessary experience, the college day isn't too disruptive to the working week.
I have received all the required support from my employer through the Covid restrictions, college work and placement tasks within the workplace
In general I receive a good amount of support to work towards my qualifications, however this level of support varies across the subjects I work towards. All the required contacts are provided for assistance and my only issue is due to covid restrictions whereby I prefer learning onsite at the college as appose to at home.
The qualification is relatively general over mechanical engineering as a whole, where this isn't very job specific. However, this has helped with engineering principles and supported the job role as well. Certain subjects therefore support the job well and some not so
There are activities to get involved in within each section I've worked as well as the company as a whole
