  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The different rotations on the scheme let you try out plenty of roles to find what you like best from Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain or CCSD. I get to interact with loads of people in my role who are higher up in the business than myself and with people based at our European sites to get involved in projects for new products or to improve software for more accurate information.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have grown so much over this apprenticeship to become a much stronger communicator and networker while also developing my presenting, analysis and creative skills. I have learnt a lot about how businesses work and about the end to end process of how a product goes from a raw material in the fields to being on shop shelves.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much enjoy the programme but it can be difficult to manage the workload alongside the university coursework, however it does get a little easier to handle over the three years as you get more used to the amount of work and how to properly use time management.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The scheme is very well organised with lots of support from The Academy team, line managers and apprentices on other schemes or from the years above the one you're in. There's a full induction when you first start detailing everything you need to know about the business and each team you join during the rotations often does something similar at the same time as the training.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is lots of support from The Academy team, your line managers and from the apprentices on other schemes or from the years above the one you're in as a front line. There are also plenty of wider support from the business in regards to the Mental Health First Aiders, the HR Business Partners and colleagues around the business. Everyone is always happy to help with any issues and it seems to be something deeply engrained in the culture.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We get all the support we could really need from Sheffield Hallam University. They are contactable via email if we ever need any help outside of the lecture weeks and they ensure to give us an afternoon session on the final day focused on the assessment.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The degree has given us a theoretical understanding and a chance to apply the theory to our roles and the wider business. This helps us to use to apply the theories when we are at work and helps us to understand why the business makes certain strategic decisions.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of opportunities to get involved with from a Pride group to the Mental Health First Aiders and Charity champions. Outside of those groups the individual teams often have social events and activities outside of work.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Nestle to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The culture at Nestlé is unlike that of most other businesses and it's a supportive, forward-thinking business. It's an employee-focused and is always looking to the employees to drive change and begin the development of new products.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestle?
  • Look at the business, the brands and the products to understand what they do and become aware of what they produce (more than you think!). It's also worth reading other reviews to get a well rounded understanding of people's experiences as well as recommend having a look at the Nestlé Academy website at the application process.
