I work in a customer facing role supporting customers who use the Invoice Finance facility. We help customers bridge the funding gap and lend money based on the invoices they upload on our system (owed to them by customers). We deal with a variety of queries to help their facility run smoothly.
I have done both. Before starting I was especially happy with my time management skills and communication. Being in this role developed on both of those as with my apprenticeship and job I had to manage my time effectively. I have also had to communicate with a range of people across different teams to get the job done. A new skill I learnt would be how to be more of a critical thinker and be change ready.
I really enjoy the programme and I’m glad it’s something I decided to do. The support from NatWest giving me time out of the day to complete my apprenticeship has been amazing. As has the support from BPP with 6 weekly calls to support with the work I’m doing.
I think it is very well organised. Everything was laid out clearly from the offset with their expectations of when the work should be done, with the relevant support given. The flexibility was also appreciated if I had time off due to annual leave then my deadline would be extended so I would still have enough time.
As much as I need! They have been very vocal about doing what I think is best in terms of the time I need out of the day to day role. From the start I have been very vocal with my manager about the workload I have and the time needed to complete it and they have always given me this.
Lots! From the start we were diarised 6-weekly calls in order to have a catch up and see where we are up to. We used this time to discuss the assignments and any questions or queries I had. They were definitely useful and even since moving on from to the End Point Assessment team they have always been there to support me via email or phone.
One thing I would say about the qualification is that it allows me to think more deeply about the work I am doing. Some things in my role are now second nature to me and I can do them automatically, but having the qualification and needing to do assignments based on the work I am doing in my role allowed me to reflect on my job.
There are lots of things to get involved in at NatWest. There is the People board that covers things like the importance of well-being and how we can all help to develop our own and others. We also have the employee led networks such as the rainbow network or women’s network. There’s something for everyone.
Yes
Ever since joining it’s been a great place to work that I have thoroughly enjoyed. The people are friendly and supportive and don’t hesitate to help. The work environment pre covid was amazing and the support the bank has given us in being able to work from home and providing all necessary equipment has been faultless.
Go for it! You will receive tons of support from the friendly people you are working with that will make the job so enjoyable. There is a dedicated apprenticeship team within the bank you can go to for support as well as your manager/ team as well as the BPP team.
