I work in a non-client facing role as part of the banking additions team. My role involves collaborating and communicating with teams across the bank, sending emails and documents to clients, handling client queries, accurately keeping track of and recording the work that I am doing and many other day to day activities.
My skills are constantly being developed in the role that I have. Time management is a huge factor in my working life and my time management skills have been improving since I started due to recognising areas of weakness and working on these. Similarly, from communicating with so many people on a daily basis, both my verbal and written communication skills have improved greatly. I am also undertaking an 18-month apprenticeship course as part of my role, which will help develop other skills needed for my role.
So far I have really enjoyed the first few months of my new job role. The only difficulty would be remote working from home, as it can be difficult not having others around for instant support. However, the team I have been placed in are great at handing my queries and helping when I need it. The NatWest Group also has a great working culture, really supporting and praising their staff and making sure that wellbeing and support is there when needed.
My programme has not been rigidly structured, but quite flexible, with the majority of my training involving mentors within my team helping to train me virtually online. My roles and responsibilities have built up over time as I acquired new skills and confidence in my ability to carry out my roles. My apprenticeship programme is well structured with tasks that need completing set out month by month.
Support is highly accessible and signposted, especially when new to the business. My mentors and team in general have been highly supportive and help me out whenever I need it. I have regular 1:1's with my manager to check in, ask any questions I may have and get feedback from the team.
I have only recently begun my apprenticeship programme, but my learning practitioner is prompt to answer questions and provide detailed feedback on my submitted work. I know that if I have any issues I can email my learning practitioner and will get the answers I need almost straight away. My learnign practitioner has also established monthly check ins to see how I'm doing and for me to ask any questions I may have.
Again, as I've only just begin my apprenticeship it is hard to answer. However, I believe my qualificatiojn will help me greatly in my role by enhancing the skills that I have, developing new skills and learning business fundamentals that will be important to my job role e.g. key legislation, workplace development activities
Yes there are many activites on offer at all times throughout the business. There are many employee led networks that you can join such as gender, disability, environmental, etc. In additon there are many extra-curriculars on offer such as yoga and cookery classes. The NatWest group also gives employees time to give back to the community through a variety of volunteering opportunities.
Yes
The NatWest Group has a great working environment, full of suportive people who want you to do the best. There is a huge focus on personal and professional development, which is great to see from a big company. From a wide variety of learning opportunites to extra-curriculars such as yoga, I believe NatWest has something to offer everyone.
There were several parts to the application process. I started by completing my application and had to complete english and maths tests. After this stage, I had to record myself answering a series of questions - I was given a few minutes to prepare answers and had to answer within a set time limit. Then the final stage was an interview over Zoom covering information about the company, my skills, why I wanted to work there, etc.
