My current role involves tasks and responsibilities spanning between Secretarial administration and technical administration. This involves managing the diaries of members of the senior leadership team whilst also providing general administrative support to the wider team for things such as putting slide packs together, submitting data requests and also monitoring who is around and at what time.
I have hugely developed my confidence during my apprenticeship, especially whilst making important descions. Working day to day with high up and powerful people has shown me that I am more than capable of making these decisions and it has proven to myself that I am good at what I do.
I really enjoy my Programme, I have learnt that I love being organised with my job and enjoy being given a lot of responsibility. I enjoy working with all different types of people and speaking to everybody, something that with admin allows you to speaks with countless people on a daily basis.
Although my programme is mostly organised and well put together, there are certain aspects of the induction process that could be slightly more organised. For example, there was not an induction pack given to us which I believe could have been more useful. Despite this, I feel welcomed in the business and I am happy to be here.
I receive lots of support from my employer, I know exactly who to contact if I need anything, as well as resources I could use for this. I know that if I was struggling with anything at all, the business would jump at the chance to help me. BAE Systems are great with this.
My training provider is BAE Systems themselves, I think they support us well in terms of the fact that I know that they would be more than happy/willing to help me out or answer any questions I have about the course/ the work we do in college. College occurs once a month for me.
My qualification allows me to solidify the business aspect of my knowledge and it helps me expand on some of the important and more academic aspects of business such as stakeholder management and the rules, regulations and policies of a business which are all key aspects that can affect your day to day role and tasks.
There are lots and lots of activities that you are pushed to get involved in at the company as an apprentice. We are currently in a pandemic however I have still been made aware of the opportunities that would usually be offered in normal times.
Yes
I would definitely recommend bae systems to a friend and in particular the business administration apprenticeship. BAE Systems really care about your growth and development and push to improve you as a person. BAE take your concerns seriously and strive to create an equal environment for everyone. I would push everyone to apply.
I would advise everybody thinking about applying to be aware of the values and key behaviors of bae. Trusted, innovative and bold. I would also advise you to stay true to yourself in your application and interview, as this will shine through and show your interviewer who you are as a person.
