I provide full administrative support for three busy teams including diary management, preparing agendas and papers for meetings, as well as organising both external and internal meetings. I arrange travel, preparing itineraries and processing expenses as well as managing the team's compliance with the company's policies and procedures.
There were a number of existing skills which I developed such as communication, building relationships and skills relating to personal effectiveness. I also learnt a number of new skills like managing people, project management and finance.
I really enjoyed my programme; it delivered a breadth of knowledge related to becoming a team leader which was both interesting and useful.
The programme was structured well but the organisation was at times a bit lackluster. There were things that I was told at the end of the course that I should have been told at the beginning. I think this may be teething problems, however, as it was the first year that the provider had run this course.
I received good support from my organisation and had regular contact from the HR team. I received adequate support from my manager, who checked in fairly regularly, but was on hand with guidance when I had any issues. Overall the Bank's attitude towards supporting Apprenticeships was good.
I received regular support from the tutor that training company provided for us. As well as our monthly seminars he arranged phone call catch ups with me to check in to make sure we were doing ok. The training provider was approachable if I had any issues.
The things that I have learned in the Apprenticeship has helped me in my role on a day to day basis. Even though I don't currently manage a team I have been able to put some of my learning into practice.
The Bank has many social activities, networks and events to get involved with including an on-site gym. The Bank hosts seminars with celebrated people to talk about their life and work. They also provide ample voluntary initiatives.
