  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role on a day to day basis persists of taking in the deliveries etc milk, grocery, chilled & frozen also scanning round the shop to see what stock will go out on the shop! Also going on the till if needed when customers or other people come to the till.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt a lot off new skills when I started at Iceland, like being able to customers details to be able to give them home deliveries, also learnt how to be able to use the guns to take in deliveries, and the skills I have developed on is my speaking to people when working in Iceland it made me a lot more confident speaking to people

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy doing my program because it’s learning me new things which will then help me progress further into my career, I also enjoy doing it because it will come in handy for me if I ever leave iceland and will then have the duty manager to be able to take into different shops

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think that my programme is well organised because it’s done from week to week and also my programme tutor keeps in touch with me all the time to make sure I’m doing alright and if I can still make the meetings etc Just so I know where I’m at with the programme

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Iv received a lot off support from my employer, especially my manager and other duty managers in my shop that have been through this course and says that it is really beneficial for me to do this now especially when I’m younger , wether it be used at Iceland or other shops in the future

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received quite abit of a support from my training provider, especially my tutor as when I done my mock tests she seen there was some things I needed help with in my maths and English so she put me forward for online classes in maths and English to help me get what’s needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that it will help me in the future for my duty manager role, for when on a night time when cashing up the tills & needing just on a general daily basis when writing emails, letters etc. Also getting my qualifications will be needed for me to be to progress in the future maybe past duty manager.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There isn’t any sport activities that you can get involved in unfortunately, But we do get social funds for us to be able to go on staff nights out to bowling allies etc, we also get to go to conference nights where around 20 stores go and see what we’ve accomplished in the last year

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Iceland to a friend because they are a great company to work, offering a good pay rate, discount in store and other stores with a discount card, your able to progress further up the company if your willing to put in the work, also like to make sure there staff are happy and care about there wellbeing.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland?
  • Be confident and happy especially when talking to customers as they are the key to the company, make sure that your easily approachable and look like your willing to talk to the customers and not not interested or they will feel unwelcome and maybe not want to come back to the shop
