My job role is a IT salesman. My Job is too assist company's and help them reduce risk and maximize cost with their IT systems. I Do this by cold calling, emailing and connecting on LinkedIn.
I have learnt many skills since starting in September 2020. These skills are team work, communication skills, IT skills, problem solving, leadership and many more. All these skills that have been developed had helped and improved my confidence in and outside of work.
I would say overall I am really enjoying the apprenticeship. I think it is fair to say I have good days and bad days. Which I think is a thing that everyone can say. However, the good outweighs the bad.
With doing the apprenticeship during a global pandemic, I think that the organization has been outstanding with virtual meetings and training sessions.
At Softcat, support is the one thing you can say you have more than enough! With support from your manager, team, learning and development and even just anyone that works for Softcat. Everyone here is friendly so you can ask anyone for help.
I would say we have a good support system with the qualifications. I think it would be better if we were in person, however, with the pandemic they are doing all they can do!
I think with the ongoing training we have, it becomes very clear how we can bring that into our job role. Everything is always relatable which makes it easier to understand.
I am currently involved in the apprentice committee which I help in setting up events for the apprentices. This has allowed me to talk to people outside the apprenticeship and make new friends within the company.
Yes
I think for someone who is looking to kick start a career in a growing industry, then this is the perfect start. I knew nothing about sales nor technology within a business. With the ongoing training, it makes it easier to build skills and knowledge.
My advice would be to show that you are eager to earn and learn at the same time. At the end of the day, that is what an apprenticeship is about. Always go in with an open mind and come out smiling the other side!
