Within my apprenticeship i have been given the opportunity to do four 6 month placements. My current placement involves working with Purina, alongside the discount store. Within this role, i would analyse current sales and trends and work together with customers to improve ecommerce journeys, enabling the sales of our products.
I have learnt an array of new skills. Having the opportunity to work across four different departments mans i've been given the time to explore my strengths and weaknesses, which has allowed me to work out where i would like my career to lead in the future. Alongside this i have been able to study a degree in professional management, and at the end of the course will be given the opportunity to become chartered.
I really enjoy my programme, as i've been able to get exposure to so many different areas of a business that you can't learn from a textbook. Now i have a much better idea of where i would like to go in the future, and as an added bonus my degree is free! I also love working for Nestle, as their culture is very good for work life balance, and there are lots of company perks i wouldn't be able to get elsewhere.
Our programme is well structured, with a good mix between university and work time.
I gain support from my manager, the academy team, our apprenticeship coach and the university.
Support from Sheffield Hallam is good, they have lots of ways to contact them when working long distance.
It helps a lot, as i can understand the theory we are learning in our degree by looking at the real life applications i've experienced in the workplace.
There are lots of activities to get involved in at Nestle, and ones that can really appeal to your passions such as a climate network.
Yes
I feel you get the best of both world between university, a job and experience,
Be yourself, and research the company beforehand.
