  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to provide support and assistance to the RMS on my team. I help look after their portfolio of customers day to day through various different tasks. I help keep their relationship with their portfolio moving forward by making sure all their meeting are up to date and booking customers in if a meeting is needed. I also take on the responsibility of doing any meeting prep that is required. If there has been changes to any of the businesses I will raise an EDR or, if the customer is looking into a new product I will submit a lead form on behalf of the RM. I sit in on weekly discussions with the team in India to see the process of any on going tasks and this provides us with a general over view of how the portfolio is performing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • From my experience so far I feel like not only have I developed my existing skills, I feel like I have developed a lot of new ones. My communication skills are improving more and more each day by talking to new customers and also just by reaching out and communicating with my team if I need help with something. Technology and ICT skills is a new skill I have got to grips with since starting this role. Each day I am getting more confident with not only navigating the normal computer system but also the different platforms I am required to use. The internal zoom training sessions have been really beneficial to me as well as all the training my team have provided to me. My team work skills have definitely played a big part in the last few months, making sure I am working with my team and supporting each other and getting the best possible outcomes.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying learning something new every day. No day is the same at this current time as I feel like there is something new to learn each day and that keeps me motivated. I am enjoying having to challenge my self by pushing my self out side my comfort zone. I also feel now I have started the apprenticeship I have something extra to work towards and my learning will just keep on developing. I enjoy being on a team of people that support me and understand that I am learning and don't know everything at the moment.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that my day to day role/job is nicely organised and I know what to do and expect everyday. It is very early days on my apprenticeship program but so far it has been organised and each step has been explained along the way. I do feel like the instructions on how to work the BBP hub could have been more detailed and explained as I know my self and others have found it difficult to navigate.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I have experience from NatWest, my line manager and my team has been really strong and consistent. They have been really patient with me and I have learnt no question is a stupid question. I feel like I can go to anyone for help and it wouldn't be a problem for them. I have no banking experience and not only have they had to teach me from scratch, they have had to do it over zoom which isn't always as easy as it would be in person. They have trusted me along the way to do tasks that I have never carried out before.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have only had my induction with my training provider at the moment, but the induction was good and covered all the questions I had. We have been put with our mentors and they have arranged for a skype meeting which I am looking forward to.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am yet to get involved with any extra activities at work. I wanted to focus on getting to grips with my job role and apprenticeship before getting involved with anything else but I definitely will in the future. With todays circumstances it has been difficult to do anything outside of work in regards to social events and activities.
