A Commercial Managers is responsible for looking after subcontractors accounts / Issuing instructions for additional works / Forecasting profitability of the works / putting together subcontract orders to cover works to be completed on the project etc.
I have developed many skills since joining Mace over 2 and a half years ago allowing me to become more independent in my tasks at work and gain more responsibility for my project on a daily basis. I am constantly learning new things from my line manager and others in my team around me which is great as it builds confidence.
I find my line of work very interesting and it's great having the opportunity to develop my knowledge and try to exceed expectations where possible.
It works well having one day of University per week, as i'm never away from the office for long periods of time. This allows me to keep on top of my daily tasks and manage my subcontract packages without letting potential issues build up
Mace offer as much support as needed. If i ever feel as if support is required, i am confident that i will be able to get the help required from any of my colleagues at mace
Southbank University has been sufficient in terms of support. I feel like it has got better since the start of the year as there was not a lot of support given outside of lectures. i.e. email responses etc. I am led to believe COVID is partial to the impact of this, however it seems to be improving as time goes on.
I feel as if the qualification has helped in areas to improve me in my role at work. However, from the experience i have had so far, the best form of learning is having exposure to new tasks on site and guidance from my line manager where necessary.
Mace host many different social networking events which are available to all staff to attend
