  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my job role I engage with a variety of children on a daily basis, I discuss with parents; I learn new skills and gain knowledge through every single interaction. I am responsible for ensuring the safety of the children in the setting, I am responsible for making the children feel respected and cared for and I am responsible for providing opportunities for children to learn. Along with this I clean, I attend work meetings and I create paperwork that documents how the children learn.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As soon as I started I had a meeting about what the apprenticeship consists of this was so helpful as I knew from the get go what would be happening throughout the course of my apprenticeship, as well I was made aware of every webinar that I would be attending, this made it really easy for my employer and I as we were able to discuss plans regarding cover for while I am in office.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • All of the staff at my setting are willing to answer my questions when I have them, as well as support me in finding the right revenues to access training that I feel like I need to receive to further my knowledge in areas I don't feel strong in. They also allow me to push myself out of comfort zone at times while also allowing me to take things at my own pace and will never push me to do something I don't feel comfortable with doing.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider, she offers me guidance on different things that I can document towards my 20% off the job hours, and what I can use in my portfolio of evidence. If I have any questions about any of the tasks she's set me or even about any of the things I have learnt, she helps me to the best of her ability.
