I am a Cloud Support Manager responsible for technology infrastructure in customer service, including call centre telephony and CRM, networks and desktop support
During my apprenticeship I have learned many new skills from coding Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and SQL through to project management
I really enjoy the Degree Apprenticeship I am undertaking. As a mature student (40+) I have been able to learn new skills from both the course and my peers. It has kept my skills current to the requirements of the business.
The programme is very well structured. I understood what I would be studying right from the start, even with the effects of Covid-19 I have been able to continue my studies effectively with full support from the supplier and my employer
I receive any support that I need from my employer including extra time for studies if necessary. My employers are keen to see my progress and appreciate the new skils that I am learning
As a University the support network is very well structured. From tutors to my individual Skills Coach, Library, IT and extra sessions around skills relevant to my degree.
The additional skills that I am pushed to learn are helping increase my understanding of the business, and I've worked my employer for 20 years! Its never too late to learn new skills and put them into practice
This has been limited through Covid-19 but there has still been an effort to connect as a department using digital platforms, and we are encourages to take part in activities such as a 10K a day step challenge, and write blogs of our experiences
Yes
I have worked for my employer for close to 20 years. They are fair, supportive and believe in putting their people first. They encourage you to better yourself and provide the opportunities to do so.
Join, grasp any opportunities that you can. The only thing from stopping you from going further is you. Even if you don't hold ambitions to further your career, working for Pearson will still give you opportunities as part of your role to improve yourself and most importantly, you always have a voice.
