Caring for others, cleaning, laundry, food services, paperwork, administrative services, continence needs, supporting individuals with fulfilling lives, setting up activities, ensuring safety of everyone in the building including colleagues and visitors, encouraging participation in all manner of activities in and around the building, mental and physical support where required, keeping within guidelines of all areas of our role.
I have used my time to expand on my current knowledge and understanding of my role and past experiences in health care and understanding how vital my role is to others, I have learnt some new information and recalled information from past experiences from previous roles before coming to Care uk.
I thoroughly enjoyed each and every aspect of my course, if I found myself in misunderstanding or struggling with the course or anything pertaining to the course I knew I could speak to my tutor and had every faith in the knowledge she gave me along with my experience and knowledge.
Not knowing what to really expect, I was very happy with the structure and the organisation with the programme
With the support of my fellow colleagues and management team who had previously completed their NVQ I knew I could turn to the for the support I needed when I needed it.
I knew I could ask my tutor for the support I needed when I needed it and she knew and understood how to speak to me to help me understand what was being asked of me.
I believe it has helped in the fact I can advise more clearly with new staff so that they can get an understanding of how important their role is to each individual.

Within all of my previous careers I have never found a place I felt truly welcomed, our home is a true family, I couldn’t be more proud of our work family and the team I work with on a daily basis, we all have each other’s back, we have our own ways of learning, we know we can talk to anyone about anything and not feel like walking on eggshells about anything, our family is special, our family isn’t as big and our home isn’t as impressive as other care uk homes however, we make it the best place possible for the individuals in our care.
You will have good days and you will have bad days, however don’t let the bad days be the decider for how the company or the care home works, in more occasions than many, decisions are made by head office who over rule the home, that’s why it’s the team you work with that keep you strong.
