On a daily basis I do bookkeeping tasks for both End of Year accounts and VAT returns and I am slowly being introduced into more detailed aspects of posting up accounts. I also do everyday admin tasks such as answering the phone, meeting clients, sorting out the daily post and doing filing.
During this role I have developed my Customer service skills in a sense as I have become much more confident talking on the phone or face to face with some of our clients. My time-keeping skills have developed very well in this role as I am aware I need to keep up with the pace of the office in order to be part of the 'Well oiled machine' meaning we wall work together eficiently.
I highly enjoy working here, as I feel as though I am part of team, the other members of staff are highly helpful and accommodating with my studies and answer any questions I may have. they treat me as part of the team rather than just an apprentice who doesn't know too much about the role as of yet.
Our roles here are very highly organised. We have tasks delegated to our own abilities, I am challenged everyday with the work I do and they never over or underestimate my abilities. Everyone is willing to help each other with any problems we have and we always review each others work and give back improvement notes to work on.
I receive an incredible amount of support from my employer. He understands that I am only just beginning my apprenticeship and he gives me jobs to suit that fact. He is always considerate with my at home study time as well as constantly giving me extra training during work hours.
Not very much at all. Due to Covid- 19 I have been studying for my courses at home. I never hear from college and when I need them it takes weeks and weeks to get in touch. The resources offered are very helpful and worthwhile using however it takes way too long to get hold of them. We are quite disappointed with the service.
My apprenticeship helps me with almost every aspect of my role at work. Through studying the bookkeeping qualifications at Kaplan, I better understand the reasons behind the way I process transactions at work. It works well together because at work I learn how to do the job and at college I learn why I am doing it.
No, we are only a very small company and as such do not have the facilities to form any sort of sports teams or after-work activities together. I do however go to the gym a lot in my free time. We would like to socialise more outisde of work, but at the moment we do not have the ability.
Yes
Because since I started here I have felt welcomed, appreciated and I have learnt so much about the job role I hope to occupy one day in the future. I get training in and out of work hours and the atmosphere in the office is amazing. It is really a lovely place to work.
I would advise someone to get stuck into their work thoroughly and make sure they get on well with everyone in the office. I think it is important to do these things as thy create a good work environment for everyone and I believe this increases productivity levels in the workplace.
