I manage a day centre for adults with dementia. My role involves supervising the staff in the safe running of the centre and liaising with social workers to provide care packages for those that need it.
I have learned more about the funding requirements for individuals that require care and developed my skills in people management.
I love working for VIP. The passion the company has for ensuring adults living with dementia have the social opportunities they would usually miss out on while providing the opportunity for carers to have respite is fantastic.
It’s structured well. The hierarchy is clear and all roles have clear, defined roles and responsibilities.
As much as I need. Both my manager and the owner have an open door policy and are always on hand for advice and support.
My assessor always answered her phone to calls and messages and responded to emails whenever I needed her. She was flexible with meeting times and made the experience really simple.
Massively. It has given me the knowledge, specifically around the workings of the business, to understand what happens behind the scenes and how I can play a role in helping that side of the business.
The work place usually organises regular staff meals & meet ups but due to covid it hasn’t been possible. As a business, the senior staff attend networking events.
Yes
The constant support, a fun & safe environment, and the owners are willing to pay for the staff to do apprenticeships and other training to better themselves if they wish to
Always be yourself, everyone has always got something new to bring to a team and we love trying new ideas.
