Collecting timesheet information from 60-70 employees on a weekly basis, processing this information and posting relevant recharge journals. Being responsible for 5 cost centres within our Treatment side of the business, which includes reconciling monthly costs and salaries. Assisting other members of the team by posting recodes and completing some of the easier reconciliations / reports required at month end.
In my role I am constantly developing new skills alongside my knowledge. My team are very conscious that I am studying via an apprenticeship, so seize every opportunity where they can to assist me in developing my skills and behaviours, for example inviting me to sit in on meetings to develop my business communication skills.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I have a wealth of support from my workplace, both from direct colleagues on my team and across our wider finance team in general, which really contributes to how much I enjoy the programme. There is an excellent network set up so I know I have an abundance of people I could go to for help, advice and support when I need it.
My programme is excellently structured, through the inputs that not only my employer has but also my training provider (and talent coach) too. I have regular check ins with my Kaplan talent coach and also members of our Study Support team at Veolia too, which help to keep me on track with my studies.
I receive plenty of support from my employer, which comes from all levels of the business really and in a variety of informal and formal styles. My employer is extremely supportive of my studies, for example at CIMA Strategic Level, I am now entitled to 5 study days per exam module, which significantly helps with the revision period.
The support I receive from my training provider comes from a variety of sources, from the support of my subject specific tutor during Live Online sessions as well as email support outside of sessions, email support from the Academic Support at Kaplan for exam kit question queries when revising and also from my talent coach.
My qualification definitely helps me to perform better in my role, especially once I reach the Management and Strategic levels - some elements of the qualification really fitted in hand in hand with my role and it was a great experience to be able to take my knowledge from my studying and apply this in a real life day-to-day context in my role.
At the moment things are a little different due to working from home, however I expect many elements of the extra-curricular side of my company to be reinstated once restrictions are eased further. We have a gym on site which we can use independently or alternatively there are also scheduled exercise classes that you can attend. We also have dedicated social and charity committees too.
Yes
I have worked at this company for 8 years this year and I would definitely recommend them as an employer. They could not be more supportive of my studying, not only from a financial perspective but also in providing support to ensure I'm okay and not struggling. They really support staff who want to progress within the company and try to open as many doors and opportunities for you as they can.
Always be yourself, don't try to come across as the candidate that you think that they want to hire. We have such a diverse range of employees so you can't go wrong being yourself, and as long as you perform your job well your personality alongside that can only be a bonus.
