I am an apprentice pension administrator who completes daily tasks for the members of Barnett Waddingham, this will include transfer out quotes for members who want to transfer their pensions, issuing registration keys to people who want to access our online features, completing death updates on the system for members who have passed away and many more
I have learnt how to use many features on word including adding a signature to my work or adding comments within a documents for other members to view. I have also learnt how to use penstream including viewing member documents, their payroll, running calculations and eFiling documents that I have completed to be sent to the member
I have really enjoyed the programme so far, I have met amazing new people who are always very helpful to me and are so welcoming, I have also learnt so much in just a few months from using the different software that Barnett Waddingham provide and there is always something new to learn which makes every day exciting
I think the programme is very well organised because there is always so much communication and everything is always put across so clearly. If you ever need help there is always someone there willing to help you and show you what to do and will always help in future if you get confused or don't understand it fully.
I have received so much support from my team there is always someone available to talk to and they can help so much with their knowledge and understanding. they are always happy to help and explain things which really helps when starting a new task because their support always gives you reassurance when starting something new as you always know the support is there if you don't understand something or if you get it wrong
I have also received a lot of support from my training provider they always explain everything clearly for what they expect from you and also what you need to complete for the next meeting. they have also helped a lot with the exam and what they need you to do, when I will receive the revision, when the exams will take place and what to expect from them
I think my qualification definitely helps me to perform better because you learn so much from the qualification and can also use your knowledge that you receive from the qualification to help when learning something new, having this knowledge already helps you have a better understanding when receiving the training for a new task
yes there are plenty of activities to get involved in at work we haven't been able to attend any yet due to the coronavirus but I have heard there are some sports teams that I can join, there is social events at the end of the year and Christmas events, there is weekly football which I will be attending when it is safe to do so
Yes
I think the learning is a great aspect of working at Barnett Waddingham because every day there is something new to learn whether it be a new task, a new aspect on penstream or just something for pensions in general, the members of the team are great as well because they are always happy to help and give support where they can
Be very open minded on what to expect because I thought when applying it would be like going to school which can be very boring and tedious at times but I was pleasantly surprised at the range of things that you do whether its learning a task, completing tasks for members, attending fuze sessions, revising and taking exams and plenty more
