My job is a line chef. On a day to day basis I would usually cook food for costumers. This means serving different types of food for different people; including children. My job also includes cleaning the kitchen and filling out different types of forms for health and safety purposes.
Yes. I have learnt many new skill while working as a chef. I started off helping around the kitchen and now I am trained enough to supervise the kitchen when the head chef is not around. Also, I now know how to complete line checks and orders for the kitchen stock.
I am really enjoying this programme because I am learning lots of new things and I'm able to work at my own speed which makes it easier to concentrate. The trainers are all very friendly which makes the experience even better for me. I will definitely complete the next level of training with the same company.
The programme is very organised. The sections that I have to complete are all together in one place and the trainer has video chats or face to face chats with you after you have completed a section. This means you can take your time to read and memorise the sections. The trainers will also help if you are stuck in any way.
I received alot of support. If I need any files/documents from my employer she is always very helpful. Some of the coursework I am doing requires some help from my employer and she is always happy to help me to complete my work to best ability I can. When I have meeting my work days are scheduled around them to make it easier for me.
Lifetime training offers lots of support to all the students they have. We are provided with one trainer which helps us to know who to contact in need of help. We receive emails, phone numbers and other details to contact them whenever we are needing help. The meeting are great too because they go through every section of the work with you.
My qualification is for hospitality level 2 meaning that I can go on to train with my company to become a second chef and maybe a head chef one day. The qualification gives me the knowledge I need to progress in my career to my fullest potential and eventually owning my own hospitality business.
No, we don't have any social activities at my work place. However, sometimes we will have a friendly competition with the other marstons pubs so that we have some social contact with other places. This includes football matches and seeing who can get the most upsells in the week
Yes
Marstons is a great company to work for because they try their best to make sure all staff members are treated well and trained. The staff get a discount card for when they go into any marstons pub and we are provided with all the training and uniform at no extra costs.
Marstons is a great company to work for if you are starting out like I was. Start off working in the kitchen or as a waitress and train up with them to become a head chef or manager. Marstons pubs are somewhere I could see myself working for many more years.
