Working with organisations to do software testing on their products to improve their usability, learning new programming languages, how to communicate better and give presentations. Designing new test frameworks and reporting back to clients in meetings and my team on how overall testing is going. Communicating with various team members to run all tests.
I am learning how to program in Javascript and Python. As well as how to use programs like Selenium, Jira and other automation programs to automate tests. I am learning how to present information professionally and to communicate in better ways as well as how the general test framework works.
I enjoy my program very much, learning how to program has been very interesting, as has been learning about test frameworks. I like socialing with the other apprentices and IBM has put alot of time and effort into making the program enjoyable and fun. I have also been very supported in my apprenticeship.
There is a good mixture of structed learning and self study as well as on the job training. Overall the apprenticeship has managed to find a very good balance between the two. There has been a fair amount of structure and organisation to help me feel supported in the job role I am doing.
I am able to email my colleagues and managers at any time, they are all extremely supportive and helpful during my role and I have also received alot of support from my fellow apprentices here at IBM. Overall very good support from this employer across the board for us here at IBM.
I am always able to reach out to my training provider with questions and they are always more then happy to help me to reach my goals on the program. This as well as IBM's willingness to step in when we have quires and issues has provided us alot of support.
It has helped provide me context for my role as well as show me how to do things like program which has been exceptionally helpful when it comes to helping me perform better in my role as a software tester. Overall this is excellent and has been very helpful for my role.
There is a wide network of activities and events I can get involved with as well as plenty of opportunities to network and reach out to other apprentices. Unfortunately Covid has put a bit of a dampener on this but I am sure when we are out of lockdown this is only continue to improve.
Yes
Its a fun, friendly place to work with plenty of opportunities for both learning and progressions. Lots of training, fun friendly people and a nice overall working environment make it a great place to recommend to work in. I have already recommended it to a friend as a good place to work at.
Be open to change, opportunity and new challenges, work hard to tailor your CV to IBM and if you get through to the assessment centre then work hard to stand out and show yourself through the crowd as someone to hire. Enjoy the experience and take lessons and feedback away from it.
