Provide infrastructure services to clients, primarily through cloud providers. Also provide software solutions to clients. Day to day is dealing with tech debt and making improvements to the current systems. While also dealing with any incidents/outages that may occur.
Yes, I had no idea about how to do any of this prior to last year. The teams I have been in are incredibly supporting and explain everything. I feel I am now valued member of the team even after a short time.
I am always learning new things and meeting new people. I take enjoyment out of the fact that the work I do important and impacts the clients and the general population.
Very organised. There are learning programmed that we take that explain everything we need to know. More specific things can be explained by out 'buddies' or Peformance managers. Or of course the team we are in.
As mentioned before, there is a lot of people willing to help and there is sufficient time to study. We are allowed to work at our own pace which allows us to understand things better.
Apart from lectures they are there to provide answers to questions we may have and offer different workshops and events that can aide our qualification
The subjects are not the most ideal. We are learning Java which is not really used in my role and I feel python would of been an easier and more useful language to learn instead as this is more widely used. Also there are business subjects integrated which are not useful to me as I studied business at GCSE and Level 3.
Yes there are many workshops and network building events throughout the year which can be good if you need them. There are things such as coffee mornings or networking events that can be good for getting to know other apprentices in different companies.
Yes
Its a great firm that provides a lot of support to apprentices. There are huge amounts of experienced engineers that are always keen to help. The Culture of the company is superb! Everyone is so welcoming and inclusive. Its hugely different from previous jobs because there is not toxicity at all.
Be yourself! Everyone is so welcoming and open to new ideas. Confidence is key in the interview, be sure to your self and don't be someone else. If your passionate about the topic then it will come across that way!
