  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Taking in Royal Mail and courier items. Sorting said Royal Mail and couriered items as to where they have to go. Delivering post and scanning and delivering couriered items to people on site at where i am in Coventry. Emailing recipents not on site at Coventry and finding out where they want them going to. Processing them on by sending them through the TNT system, labelling and doing the manifest, to go onto the intended places they are supposed to. Sorting out any queries in the post to put into the right pigeon hole for a department on site at coventry and putting ones whose department or person is based at another E.ON site and sending them in the post via Royal mail. Setting up room for people or groups in a manner that they require, moving tables, chairs, adding flipcharts with paper and relevant pens, in a timely manner with and eye on health and safety at all times. Checking rooms over Greenwood for both set up and any problems with the lights and equipment and reporting them to FM management and any relevant departments to get resolved. Dealing with courier drivers coming in to either deliver items or for a collection. Contacting stakeholders if a deliver that has come here and looks to be for another site and is a bulk delivery, the same would go for collections that have not been dropped of with us first. Be aware when making deliveries, especially large quantities or larger items, to have an extra person to help load items onto a trolley and walk in front to aid in health and safety issues. Moving peoples office furniture around when either a single person or department moves from one area of the building to another. Moving furniture into a secure area that is not required at present, making sure the path is clear from obstruction and you can handle it, if not get another person to help. Report any defects you come across, examples would be lights not working, area unsafe to work in due to unlevel flooring, locks not working on pedestals. Reporting unsafe working habits, for example some one not following the one way system in the car park. Dealing with any requests that come through to us by either email or phone, for example any additional chairs, flipcharts stands for meetings or teams. Collecting post or parcels from either regular people or the business centres. Stamping the post with the relevant sticker, 1st or 2nd class, processing the post, counting each each size, small / large / packet, and the relevant class and getting the average weight, then processing on the computer on the Royal Mail Online Business Account to produce the paperwork for the Royal mail Driver along with any Special Deliveries. Sorting out any parcels to go Via TNT, items to large or heavy to go via Royal Mail, or items going outside Great Britain. Cleaning up post room before going so who ever is in first on the next day is not walking into a complete mess.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt to develop my use of excel/word and powerpoint on the computer. Learnt to see my role in relation to others better and the differing parts the company has to cover both legally and socially. Understand that what i do and do not do impacts on others in my team and on those within the building i am in.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • To see the wider aspects of interaction within where i work. What they are and see that some people have different connections to others, see the same area of concern and see what differencies there are from a post room, management and stakeholder point of view. Different departments doing there job but to the same end.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very good. At times a lot going on, you would be concentrating on doing the modules, say, before they dissapear, and would have to give some thought what project you could do. Looking for a project you migh need training on power point presentation, how to use excell to produce a document and the list goes on and you might have a module that would give you and idea or at least help.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Great support, got the time and could talk about the project, get ideas on how to use powerpoint presentation. If i got an idea for a project for the post room, do a form in excell for the smoother running or brought an idea to use it would be looked at or listened to.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Training provider was either a call or email away. If i forgot what they said or explained i could go back and ask. Gave examples of what they were trying to explain and tried to work around when they could see me with what time they had. Pointed out areas i needed to work on more or missed the point completely.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am more aware of what I can do. I am better equiped to do it as well. Best to read the emails sent and listen to the calls being made so i am not having to over the same job again, i am doing it right the first time, and some times better than expected.
