Business Systems Analyst Review

My day-to-day role involves data management within the SAP ERP system. We receive tickets in via remedy in order to change data within the system, and our job is to raise a notification in order to manage this change. We assist the user through filling out the relevant forms and receive approval before going into the system to make the requested changes. We perform check on quality critical data to ensure this has be entered correctly, and let the user know when their changes have been made. We also work with the users to ensure the quality of the data we receive is of the correct standard to ensure the integrity of the data within the system.

I have learnt many things here, both due to the role and GSK as a company. It has been great in both developing my knowledge of data management, as well as processes within a global pharmaceutical company. It has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally and this is shown through myself and my work.

The programme has been great in introducing me to the working world. It has allowed me to get my foot in the door at one of the worlds leading pharmaceutical company and this has been invaluable. Although the work can be stressful at times, it has allowed me to develop academically and professionally which has been amazing in starting me on my career path.

Being within IT, I feel as though many things haven't been organised to their best ability, due to both mentors and complications of the scheme, however, the qualification I have achieved coming out of the programme has allowed me to carry on learning and developing my knowledge outside of my day-to-day job which has been a great asset to myself and my CV when looking at the next step in my career.

Both my custodian and manager have been amazing supports throughout the programme, allowing me additional time and guidance when I require it. However, it is also down to yourself as an individual to put in the relevant work in order to come out of the scheme with both the grades and role you need in order to further your career.

The training provider has been great in helping me to submit the relevant work required to gain my qualification. Although sometimes they are not as timely as I would like, they are a huge help and are able to put me on the right track when I am experiencing any issues with the qualification and are able to answer any questions I may have.

The qualification I was put on originally was the polar opposite to my role. Because of this, I have since changed to one in which I am able to choose the units to suit my role and future career. This flexibility has been great, however, it would have been great to have had the choice upon starting, or for the company to have looked further into the role in order to allocate a qualification appropriate to partake alongside the job.

There are social events, both for people within the scheme, and for your team too. These include meals out, 'pub golf', orange days where we spend a day doing work for the community, and many more. These are great to get involved in in order to get a sense of community both with your colleagues and the fellow apprentices.

GSK is a great place to work with ethics which focus on quality and the customer at the end of the supply chain. There is so many great opportunities here, and if you see yourself leaving after the scheme, getting experience here is highly sought after in multiple industries and areas.

I would say be yourself. GSK love someone with character, and often employ someone based on their personality and charisma, as well as grades and experience. Be confident as you as a person, and align to their values in order to capture the hiring manager' attention and make a great impression.
