Twas a cold October morning when nothing stirred, not even a mouse, I walked downstairs only to see there was a letter to my house. Congratulations, you have been accepted it read, Rather puzzled by this I went back to bed. After waking again and realising what happened I jumped for joy, Called the mother who thought there was an error, she said it must be a ploy. An early rise followed several weeks later where I was greeted with a face I had not seen before, It was a Teams call with all the other apprentices introducing ourselves and building rapport. Soon followed the introduction to my colleagues, whose thick Scottish accents I couldn’t understand, It was rather strange (the friendliness of them), it felt I had joined a band. Several months passed and I knew I had secured the opportunity of a lifetime, Working in Global Insurance is brilliant and my Scottish accent is developing just fine. I speak to clients daily, help solve problems, learn new things and complete qualifications, I couldn’t have asked for a better vocation. Meeting members of the executive leadership team for a virtual coffee was a real treat, Being exposed to this wealth of knowledge is something you cannot beat. Although working from home is a shame, I cannot complain, I’m learning something new every day, building my network and upping my game. The amount of independence and responsibility I have been given is pure brilliance, I’m trusted to carry out instructions, answer queries, create and send out important documents – growing my resilience. All in all I couldn’t speak highly enough of Standard Life Aberdeen, That’s me and my experience, my review is abrdn.
