You get to Work closely with different stakeholders (internal and external) and learn how projects are ran on different scales. Different tasks such as risk management, schedule management and overall project management such as approvals and project board meetings mean you get a wide variety of experience throughout your placement.
I have learned so much in the last year from basic skills like communicating on a professional level to more hard skills such as using excel affectively to create spreadsheets and using the risk and schedule management tools to create and read them both accurately to help understand the project.
Due to covid it’s been difficult to get the experience I wanted throughout he apprenticeship. However I am very satisfied with what I have learned and achieved throughout this apprenticeship as I feel I have still got the experience that I would’ve inthe office and if anything increased my skills on interaction.
As stated above I believe covid affecting this dramatically. However we have managed to keep the structure in place which I think was a good this as it helped keep all the apprentices happy and understanding what was going on. I like the monthly network sessions to be able to keep everyone updated and in touch.
Considering covid I am very happy with the support we have had throughout this apprenticeship. I have always felt I’ve been able to reach out and ask questions when stuck and be able to talk to anyone within the scheme if there were any problems I wish to raise/ have assistance with.
This again was a challenge due to covid. However I believe they could’ve done better. One of our teachers was very half hearted and when asked if he could review an exam question his response was. I don’t get pairs to do this. I believe he soon after left however I think it did affect how I felt supported in the training sessions
I believe that it was worth it as the exam was full of good things that are used everyday within the projects I have been in and it was very relevant to what I am doing within my placement. I believe it has also given me confidence to do better within my team.
We have monthly networking sessions which have been the main activity throughout lockdown which has helped me feel in touch with other apprentices and up to date with any updates from the pandemic. Usually there were more things on which were then restricted due to covid so they haven’t happened yet.
Yes
I would recommend it because everyone has been very supportive and willing to help when required. Also it’s such a big place to be able to learn so many different things on different scales the experience I have gained from it has been overwhelming but very useful and I believe will seriously help me with my future career
I would advise to go in with an open mind but to also not feel overwhelmed. Whilst it is a big organisation everyone was very friendly so aslong as you remain professional the rest should come naturally. There is all the support there that you will need and there is always something to do
