Working within an advisory department, working on a range of engagements such as internal audits, risk assurance, external audit, corporate governance reviews.
No not particularly
I do not enjoy the program.
Not well structured or organised - the professional qualifications team have been hopeless. My individual department have been okay but there has been a distinct lack of structure in terms of the experience we are getting.
I receive quite a lot of support from my manager and the HR team have been helpful in putting in place extra support if needed
A lot of support is received from training provider. I have no criticisms of the training provider, except that they can be slow to sent out study materials.
I don't think it has made a huge difference as the qualification (ACA) is not related to the work I do on a day to day basis. However, it will be useful for future roles that are more accounting based.
Yes there are extra-curriculars. I have gotten involved in wellbeing within the team and social activities. Due to COVID, somewhat limited in terms of sports teams.
Yes
Although I have not had the best experience at BDO, I think it is a great place to start your career and get the professional qualification.
Look carefully into the specific department you are applying to and make sure you have an understanding of what they do on a day to day basis and are interested in it as this is the department you will be in for the duration of your apprenticeship.
