I am a trainee auditor which involves auditing company's accounts. The purpose of an audit is to form a view on whether the information presented in the financial report, taken as a whole, reflects the financial position of the organisation at a given date.
I have learnt many skills whilst on my way to becoming a chartered accountant such as how company accounts work and how they deal with transaction as well as tax.
Although it is hard work and very demanding, I really enjoy improving by business knowledge and working as a team.
My programme is very well structured and it is clear how much planning must go into it in order to prepare everything for the students. I have all the support I could ask for.
If you are doing something for the first time you will be given all the support you need. Although this isn't always the case as some managers expect you to know what to do even if it is your first time and do not offer much support.
My training provider goes above and beyond to give us the most support possible. I think the support is well structured and they have always catered to anything I have needed.
I think my qualification has built my background skills and knowledge that are required for the day to day work that I do. However, I rarely use what I have learnt in my studies in my work.
There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in and these have only increased now that we are working from home. From movie review nights to online escape rooms.

BDO is a fantastic place to work from the culture of the firm to all the added benefits you get from working at a big firm. All the people I have met at BDO have been very friendly and welcoming.
Be ready to learn as much as you can and ask as many questions as you can.
