On a day to day basis, I am currently working as a store assistant learning all the basics. This includes working on the shop floor, restocking shelves, helping customers find what they need and keeping the store clean and safe for customers. I also work on the tills, scanning shopping and taking payments.
I have developed my customer service skills further with this job role as there are more challenging customers in retail. Adapting to their various needs and wants is a skill I believe I already had but is developing further. Product knowledge is also a key skill to have which I believe I have also developed in this new job role.
I am enjoying my programme very much, from working in the store to the activities I have to complete online. I enjoy learning new things and keeping myself busy, which is something that this programme is doing very well for me. It is also keeping me active which I need and enjoy.
My programme is very well structured, by having set dates to complete my online work and meetings booked well in advance with my mentor, which allows me time to prepare. Work rotas are also very well managed and given in advance so I can plan my personal life around it easily.
My store manager is very helpful and always excited to help and know more about my programme, which is already great support for me! I can easily ask questions and request help when necessary and my employer will make time to aid me in any way they can, always with positivity.
My training provider is extremely busy but if I have any questions or need any extra support, my mentor will always reply as soon as they can and offer to book a session to help me out. Information about my course is set out very clearly and easy to follow and understand.
The training gives me deeper insight into my role as a customer assistant. It gives me deeper knowledge of things such as GDPR and ways in which things function behind the scenes, which allows me to input this into my job role; when dealing with customers and product information as well.
As far as I am aware, I don’t believe so. However, we have schemes which we can enrol in such as ride to work. We also get access to certain websites and things which can aid us whilst working under pressure in the retail sector.
Yes
Aldi is great in their customer service and keeping up their customer satisfaction. They are consistent on their products and prices and always try their best to give every customer the best shopping experience, no matter their needs and differences. Product quality is good and prices are low and affordable compared to other retailers. The work environment is also great to work in.
Aldi is very selective on their staff and they consider very well who they employ. They try to employ people with similar values to their own, such as excellent people skills. They expect you to work hard but also repay you for your hard work, therefore it is worth the effort.
