I work in the audit stream, hence I my day-to-day job involves working on clients in getting an assurance of the true and fair view of their financials. Hence, I'm responsible to communicate with clients and perform tests to guarantee the correctness of financial statements
Absolutely! I joined from college, and working in accounting was a new venture. Not only I learnt the technical skills such as audit software and Excel to do my job, but also soft skills such as communication skills, professionality and endurance.
I'm loving it. It can be busy, studying and working at the same time, but the programme is well-structured and there's plenty of support both at BDO and at BPP to ensure I perform my best in my exams and at work
It is very organised. Exams and teaching are booked off well in advance so each of us knows when we have study leave and when are to take our exams. Studies have been very flexible and books come in a timely manner just before the study leave is allocated
We receive a lot of support! Each of us is allocated a buddy, who is 1 year ahead of us and has thus had the same questions and challenges that we are now having. In addition, we get assigned a People Manager who is very helpful and practical.
The support is quite good at BPP. Emails are sent frequently offering the opportunity to speak with coaches as we prepare for exams. Likewise, forums are available to contact lectures who will promptly answer any question we may have
I've come to see that what I'm learning through my qualification is directly linked to my job and vice versa. The knowledge from my studies makes me understand why certain procedures are performed in audit.
With covid, socialising has changed, and having joined during the pandemic I've only see this form. Despite this, there are many virtual events both regional and national. Some are even sportive and all of the gives us a chance to network with others
