Your main job is to grasp an understanding as to what is going on on a day to day basis. It is a lot of completing basic spreadsheets and asking questions about anything and everything. Your responsibility on jobs increases quickly and after completing your first year there is a definite expectation that you are competent with the basic sections and demonstrating you can take charge of them yourself
Teamwork and communication is vital in audit. Have a questioning mind and not being afraid to ask question is also a skill you need to learn quickly. Punctuality, discipline and hard work are other skills that are developed in your work as an auditor.
Social interaction is extremely underrated as you find yourself working with a vast variety of people, especially in a big company. As a first job, its great exposure and is a great entry point into the corporate world.
