Working within different audit teams on a range of clients and given tasks to complete related to their audits.
I have been able to both develop new skills and improve on my existing skills, gaining knowledge of what is required of me as an auditor, as well as developing my communication skills and gaining valuable experience working as part of a team.
I really enjoy the work that I am doing, whilst it is challenging having to learn completely new skills, my colleagues are very friendly and approachable so I feel comfortable asking them any questions I have.
The programme is well structured in relation to exams, and gives a good balance between sitting exams and working.
I was assigned a buddy upon joining BDO, who had joined the year before me so knew how I was feeling and what questions I would likely have. I also have a people manager to help me and colleagues and wellbeing services are always there to talk to if needed.
The training providers are helpful in supporting us through exams, they have a structured program in place that helps us to navigate through course content, and prepare us thoroughly for exams. The only issue I've found is some course materials have been delivered relatively close to the exam.
As I am working through exams, I can see how the content relates to the work that I am completing along side it.
As I joined the company during COVID-19, I am yet to experience some of the social events that would usually happen in person. However, a lot of effort has been put into virtual social events that have really helped me get to know others in the office.
Yes
Everyone who works in the office is helpful and willing to lend time if you require help. You are given responsibility early on and are made to feel like a valued member of the team.
I would encourage anyone applying to BDO to be themselves, there is a real emphasis on this at BDO so that each employee can add their ideas to the office and contribute as part of the team.
