  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role on a day to day basis involves caring for the needs of babies and young children. I also support their development by carrying out regular assessments and observations. I also ensure that a safe, home from home learning environment is being upheld by carrying out risk assessments and regular changes to add more learning resources.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt and developed lots of new skills including expanding my knowledge on children’s development and also learning new ways to observe children. I have taken part in lots of new training and development courses including safeguarding/ risk assessment courses and baby brain development course.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have very much enjoyed my level 3 apprenticeship and I would definitely recommend to others. I have enjoyed the more hands on experience and the one to one support I have received from my tutor. Webinars have also been a fun asset and a way to be able to fully concentrate being given 2 hours off the job to complete.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very organised with monthly webinars and discussions with my tutor. This has allowed me time to complete notes on webinars and further work products. My tutor has been easy to contact at all times and made it easier to gain support if needed or to ask any questions.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has allowed me to be off the job to complete tasks and webinars. They have also provided me with the on the job knowledge and extra training courses. My manager has also been supportive with completing witness accounts and providing written accounts on my progress aswell as my personal knowledge skills

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have been given lots of support by my training provider especially with the recent lockdowns, my tutor has given me support to be able to continue tasks at home aswell as zoom calls to discuss work and my knowledge. My tutor gave me lots of support throughout this experience

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This qualification allows me to be able to administer medication to the children and also allows me to be more confident with the learning and teaching side of childcare. I have gained new knowledge on ways to observe children so I can use these within my childcare career.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • They’re aren’t any extra curricular events at my work however we do carry out events for the children and parents. For example fetes and parents evenings. This allows us to create strong bonds and work in partnership. My workplace does provide us with lots of training though like safeguarding, behaviour management and first aid.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Hunny Pot Day Nursery LTD to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • This nursery is very supportive and is great for qualified and non qualified practitioners. Apprentices are throughly supported and are able to achieve lots of qualifications and gain skills. A very hands on experience however I am also supported by management and team members. This company provides amazing care for the children and staff.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hunny Pot Day Nursery LTD?
  • When applying to this company show willingness to learn and gain new skills. Be prepared to ask questions and be ready to have lots of fun with the children. Be creative and have confidence in your own abilities and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it as this company is very supportive
