My day-to-day role involves me carrying out pre-pour concrete inspections, leading the weekly quality meeting, tracking progress on site and closing out NCR's.
Particularly since working on 40 Leadenhall Street, I have been exposed to the different stages of Construction from piling, to a concrete basement to a steel structure. I have noticed a massive improvement in my development over the last year.
The programme is tough, and since going into 3rd year at University (of 5), I have found it harder to balance work, studying and down-time, but in general I love the programme and am very grateful to be on it.
The programme is well structured. As the years go on, there are fewer internal training sessions which is good because we're more involved in our day-to-day roles on site.
My employer is aware of the work load given to us from University.
It's been a particularly difficult year re-covid therefore all our training has been virtual. Naturally it means it's been harder, however UEL have always answered any issues promptly.
IT does help me perform better, and gives me confidence on site however my day-to-day role doesn't really allow me to use what I've learnt at University.
Mace have tried their best with hosting virtual networking events, but naturally with covid, a lot of extra curricular activities have not happened this year.
