Working within our Operations team, my role stretches from recruitment to business improvement and client relationships. This involves supporting the whole business to achieve Sector and UK-wide objectives, mentoring new joiners starting at CGI as well as experienced members in business processes. This is also great exposure to our leadership team.
My personal and professional skills have improved greatly since beginning this role. First-hand experience of day to day working in a fast paced management environment quickly bought me up to speed with what I needed for my role, including interpersonal skills, understanding CGI and the professional environment. This is something I've been able to take into my day to day life.
I very much enjoy the Degree Apprenticeship programme and working at CGI. I work in an empowering environment which enables me to grow and develop, surrounded by friendly and enthusiastic people. The company culture supports this greatly, creating an open and sharing workplace to maximise my satisfaction and ability to learn.
The course from the training provider and CGI is well structured from the beginning to end, providing a clear path of the steps we will take to complete the Apprenticeship. We are provided with sufficient time to study, and have excellent support from our personal mentors and everyone around us.
We receive support from everyone around us, which is greatly appreciated. Management are well informed of the amount of studying that is required, ensuring that your workload is manageable, prioritising our health too. We each have mentors, who provide us with great experience, knowledge and networks to help us complete the Apprenticeship. All of this is done with positive, enthusiastic attitude.
Our training provider also provide great support for our completion of the course. In both usual and COVID-affected environments, the training provider are readily available to help and support in any way possible. Again this is conduced with positivity, creating an environment that supports completing work to the best standard possible.
The qualification I am working towards through the training provider directly links to the work I am doing. Some modules provide direct links, enabling me to directly apply my learning into my workplace role, whereas other modules may currently be less relevant to my role, but provide great exposure of what else is happening in CGI for my complete understanding.
At CGI, we run a company wide 'Sports & Social Club' (SSC), providing a comprehensive range of sporting and social opportunities for CGI members to be involved in. Simultaneously, there is a strong focus on Corporate Social Responsibility, and how we can benefit and improve our communities in a sustainable way.
Yes
CGI provides great opportunities for students looking to learn both through training and in the workplace. The culture creates an empowering, friendly, open environment, supported greatly by its people, which enables students to develop and grow as individuals and as professionals. For me, this has been a great way to begin my career.
For people looking to apply to CGI, my main recommendation for candidates would be for them to understand and showcase what makes them stand out from the crowd. Throughout the application and assessment process, there are plenty of opportunities for this. Understanding CGI, how you believe you would fit and what your aspirations are also key.
