as an IT Consultant you are expected to partake in on going training on services and products that you will be delivering in the near future, while also attending QA sessions and revising for upcoming exams. also you will have lots of internal meetings which most of the time you will have to attend.
During my first year of the organisation we primarily focus on soft skills and presentations nothing technical related. As for technical skills, that depends on which team you are in and what products and services you will be delivering. There is a lot of training to get through, but there's no training plan in place, this is something you will have to discuss with your manager, mentor and early careers team.
quite stressful at times due to the lack of structure in place.
quiet poor structured for the technical route in the organisation.
yes - to a certain extent.
support is there from tutors, extra sessions if needed. You have a skills coach with regular meetings, which again you can raise any concerns if need be.
I would the modules are not really aligned with what we do on a day to day basis. The modules are very out dated, especially for a large modern tech organisation such as HPE. I believe internal training would be much more suited.
There's always something going on which you can get involved.
No
Depends on the role that you would be applying for... Stay away from the Technical role as there is no structure at this current stage.
Have a structure in place for the apprentices; 1st Year - Understanding the portfolio - services / products 2nd Year- Training/ shadowing/ developing technical skills on products 3rd Year- Delivering services/
