My role is to provide excellent customer service to everyone that passes through the terminal. I could be doing anything from checking in passengers to boarding flights. I also work in the lounges providing great care to people travelling in first and business class on our flights. I try my best to help them with any problems and questions they may have.
I have learnt to have better communication skills as the job that I do requires me to communicate with so many types of people so I learnt to improve my communication so I can understand people’s concerns and also so customers can understand my instructions better so they know what I am explaining to them.
I enjoyed the programme a lot as I was able to gain real experience of working in a fast paced and professional work environment while developing my skills and meeting loads of new and interesting people. It allowed me to understand how a business runs as I was part of making sure the business was running smoothly.
I think the programme is well organised however due to the current circumstances with Covid 19 it has made the structure of the programme very difficult as we haven’t been able to do half of the things we should have been able to do as part of the programme.
I received a lot of support during the apprenticeship which I found extremely helpful as I was able to go to my employer whenever I had an issue and they made sure they were able to help me in some way to resolve the problem which I found really useful.
I received a lot of support from the training provider while completing work as they were always there to answer questions we had and help us understand questions if we weren’t sure or were stuck which made it a lot easier to be able to complete our work to a high standard.
I think the qualification it self does help with our role as there are things that we learnt during the programme that we would not have learnt through the day to day operation so it definitely helped having that training so we are able to do our job to a great standard.
Personally I do not know any extra curricular activities to get involved in however I am sure there are plenty but due to Covid a lot of things have had to stop or be postponed. But I know there normally is quite a lot of things to get involved in.
Yes
I would recommend British Airways to a friend because it is such a great company to work for as all the staff support and help each other and it is a great way to be apart of a community. The work is very rewarding at times which is why I enjoy it so much.
I would tell people applying to British Airways to be yourself and let your personality shine through as everyone that I work with has such an amazing personality and that reflects when working with them and when seeing them interact with customers. So be yourself and be confident as that will show you have a lot to offer.
