my role is a universal banker, this means i deal with customer queries on a daily basis in the branch network. the types of tasks i would carry out daily would be - account opening, helping customers with lending products such as loans and credit cards Also helping with digital banking
By completing my CertRBCB i have learn a lot more extra in depth information around the legislation and regulations around banking. I have learnt about the FCA and PRA. It has also given me information around what i already knew around customer types, market segments, protection for customers and customer service.
The two leaders that i had during my apprenticeship were extremely supportive and helpful which made the journey much more enjoyable. I enjoyed the sessions when building our portfolio where my leader would run zoom sessions with everyone to explain. It was a good opportunity to speak to people going through the same.
it was very structured. I liked how we had 20 percent to focus on the apprenticeship during our working week. I also liked how the portfolio was structured and the documents organized to easy reading. It was not complicated or hard to understand. My leader organized zoom sessions bi weekly for updates during covid to make sure i was on track.
I had lots of support from my employer. At the beginning while i was working my way through tessello i was allowed 1 day out of my working week to dedicate to this. While i was booking my exam i was able to take a few study days beforehand to focus on this which really helped me.
my received lots of support. My first trainer was pre covid and he came and visited me regularly and also called where we would catch up on my progress. sadly he left and my second trainer was post covid. She was very supportive and held regular zoom meeting with myself to go through progress.
My Cert RBCB helps me preform better in my role as it allowed me to gain extra information and more in depth form what i already knew around banking, regulations , legislations etc. It also helped me as i also had observations undertaken on myself around customer service which i liked to hear feedback on and improve.
During this moment there currently is not due to covid. However, there have been many networking events i have attended where there are different people from different departments - its a great way to hear about different areas of the bank. We have many social events where the area comes together for example fundraising.

HSBC is a great place to work. There is lots of opportunity to grow and expand on a career with HSBC if you put your mind to it and are determined. through out my career i have had very supportive managers, colleagues and HSBC also allows you to complete extra things such as this apprenticeship.
the advice i would give would be to pout your head down, focus on being the best in your role and it will go noticed by your colleagues and managers. No day is the same with the different amount of customers coming in the branch. I would say to always be up for a challenge and challenge yourself when new tasks are offered.
