I manage subcontractor and consultant packages of works on a construction project. This involves managing change to these packages of works and processing payments.
I have learnt many skills since starting my apprenticeship. It has been good for developing social skills as you have to work within a team. I have learnt many skills at university while studying. Mace provide many external training sessions where you develop many different skills. I have learnt lots about construction and buisness in general.
I really enjoy the programme as it allows you to work on many different projects and many different people. The environment on site is fun and not too serious. Work can be stressful and hard at times but the end result makes the hard work worth it in the end.
The programme is very well organised. The HR representitives enrol you into university and track your progress along the way. Lots of training sessions are arranged which gives you a more rounded understanding of the industry. There are fun social events to attend which allow you to network and meet other people.
I receive lots of support from my manager on a day to day basis The HR team track your progress along the way and provide help where neccessary.

The qualification is very useful for my role as it is pure 'Quantity Surveying'. The first 2 years gives a foundation understanding of construction in general while the other 3 years hone in on specific knowledge and skills for my role. Some modules seem less relevant but the skills you use while learning are beneficial.
There are mnay social meet ups where you can have a drink and meet new people or friends from other sectors.
Yes
I would recommend Mace to a friend as it is a nice working environment with great benefits such as being paid travel expenses. The projects that Mace work on are generally cutting edge and will give you a sense of fulfillment being part of the team to complete the project.
Make sure you look presentable and be prepared for all possible question.
