Being involved in the tender process from beginning to end, assessing payment applications and even being the lead QS on 2 projects within 4 and a half months of starting my work placement. BAM has given me the ability to flourish in an array of different tasks
Developed my aptitude with numbers and learnt about the logistics of major projects and how I play a part in ensuring the works are completed to the highest of standards. My knowledge on the construction industry has grown exponentially as a result of learning and my work placement
I absolutely love this programme. Everything about it is geared towards you progressing throughout your career. From the college experience to the work placements, everyone has made me feel welcomed and ensured I was learning as much as possible at all times whilst also still enjoying my time.
Incredibly well structured, the college blocks is different to most apprenticeships which use day release. Block release allows work to go on unhindered and college time to be productive as you may not get time to do assignments if work was occurring at the same time.
I receive more support than I need! There is constant communication ensuring I am feeling confident and on track with my apprenticeship. The provision of mentors allows a contact who gets to know you personally and ensures you are staying on track.
There is constant contact with college whether it be documents to read that reinforce your understanding or meetings to gauge progress and find areas of improvement that you can take to your line manager and see results on within weeks.
Personally, it really helped me to build up a foundation of knowledge to understand what is going on during my time at work and how what I am doing impacts the wider business. It also allowed me to become integrated into the company and feel at home from day one.
We have a weekly football game amongst the office and despite my chances of going into the office being limited by the pandemic, the few times I have gone in I have been made to feel welcome. There is frequent online events that involve external companies also.
Yes
A massive company who have heavily invested into a superb apprenticeship scheme and provides top quality training. In my few months being involved the development to my understanding and improvement as a person is immense and all staff I have spoken to see the programme as a real positive and will ensure they do there best to progress you.
Make sure you research some of the company projects before an interview and ensure you know and can fully get behind the ethos. Ensure you excel at the assessment days whilst also being a good team player. Try to get some work experience for the CV as it shows you have employability.
