  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves supporting with projects the bank in completing. This includes digital projects, regulatory changes and supporting with other changes that take place across HSBC on a daily basis. My responsibilities include organizing spreadsheets and runways and managing central inboxes that are used to support our colleagues in the contact center.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt and developed countless new skills. I have had to learn how to use and navigate all systems used by the bank in order to give me a strong understand of processes. I've also learnt about how to deal with complaints, have developed organizational skills and learnt how to communicate professionally and effectively with stakeholders. As part of my role I have to complete internal training courses regularly to ensure we comply with finance regulations and keep our knowledge up to date.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My favourite part of the program is the working side. I love my role on a day to day basis and really enjoy working and developing myself. I enjoy the flexibility of projects support and working with new people and on different projects everyday. My team is amazing, fun and supportive like many other teams across HSBC.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe my program could have been structured better. Since beginning my program I changed tutors multiple times as the training provided underwent resourcing difficulties, I then got switched from one learning platform to another which resulted in confusion. I believe more guidance and more regular meetings would have been beneficial. I also felt a lot of tasks had absolutely no relevance to my role and often felt like a waste of time completing them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has always offered me support although I haven't always taken them up on it. Often my workload was very high which meant I put my apprenticeship second and didn't focus on it as much. If I had received less work I could have potentially completed my apprenticeship faster as I would of had more time to study.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training providers always offered me lots of support. However they only met with once a month, I think more calls would have been more beneficial. They always had a really positive attitude however and were happy to support. I enjoyed meeting with my tutor as was treated as an adult

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I don't think qualification has a significant impact on my role at all. I think the qualification is great however I am yet to use the skills or knowledge in my role. I do however feel I know a lot more about my industry which I would not have learnt if it was not for my apprenticeship which I may use later in career.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • In a regular year there would be extra curricular activities for people to get involved in after work. Due to the covid 19 pandemic all activities were temporarily paused and they are yet to resume. Personally when not at work I enjoy playing tennis and going to the gym, I also like spending time with friends.
